Consider Your Compound Bow Choices Carefully

The first thing you will want to do when taking up the sport of archery is to buy your own compound bow. While it is nice to own your own bow it is a step that should be approached carefully to ensure you buy a bow that will suit you and help you to shoot accurately. Some bows are specifically designed to help the newcomer to the sport so it would be sensible to start off with one of these bows until you have become accustomed to shooting arrows consistently.

It is possible to tune a compound bow to suit your shooting style and to match your body type. However, it is only possible to do so within certain limits. Compound bows can be adjusted within certain ranges and as long as the adjustment required falls inside that range you should have no problem using the bow. you may see a Mathews Reezen 6.5 for sale and fall in love with it, but if it is too powerful or your draw length is too short it simply wouldn’t suit your shooting style and you should move on to look at a different bow.

Bows that have been designed for beginning shooters, or shooters of less experience, will generally have a larger brace height which will allow you to compensate for the occasional poor draw. A shorter brace height means that you will have to work a little harder to draw the bow to its full draw length and this is where an inexperienced shooter will begin to make some mistakes. The trade-off with the larger brace height is that the top speed of the bow is generally lower.

As long as you find help from an experienced archer, and the store assistant at your local archery store should give you all the help you need, there should be no problem in finding a bow that will suit your style. The bow will more than likely have to be adjusted to match your body type and this can also be done in store. Most stores also have a shooting range available so take advantage of that and fire a few arrows with the compound bow you plan on buying.
